CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A 19-year-old Odem ISD student has been arrested following an investigation into an alleged sexual assault that occurred aboard a district school bus returning from an event in Hebbronville.
According to the San Patricio County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened Dec. 9, while students were riding an Odem ISD bus back to Odem. Deputies said a juvenile student was assaulted during the trip.
The Sheriff’s Office was notified of the incident on Dec. 12.. Investigators conducted a forensic interview with the juvenile victim and collected evidence during the investigation.
Officials said the investigation established sufficient probable cause to arrest Christopher Jacob Soto.
Soto, 19, an Odem ISD student, was arrested and charged with indecency with a child, a second-degree felony.
Due to the age of the victim and the nature of the charge, officials said no additional details are being released. The investigation remains ongoing.
