ARLINGTON, Texas — A 33-year-old man was fatally shot outside a bar on NE Green Oaks Boulevard early Friday morning, according to the Arlington Police Department. Officers responded to the scene around 1:50 a.m. and found the victim unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds.
Witnesses reported that the shooter was in a vehicle in the parking lot, leading officers to detain 31-year-old Daniel Munoz. A firearm was discovered in the back seat of the vehicle. Witnesses stated that Munoz and the victim had a verbal altercation that escalated, resulting in Munoz allegedly firing multiple shots. Munoz claimed self-defense, according to the press release.
Initially charged with Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon, Munoz now faces a murder charge after further investigation and consultation with the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office. A passenger in the vehicle, 32-year-old Karina Fuentes, was also arrested and charged with Interference with Public Duties for her actions during Munoz’s detention.
Both Munoz and Fuentes were booked into the Arlington City Jail. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the victim’s name, stated the Arlington Police Department.
