ARLINGTON, Texas — The Arlington Police Department has arrested a suspect in connection with a November shooting on I-20 that claimed the lives of a pregnant woman and her unborn child.

Following an extensive investigation, homicide detectives obtained warrants for 29-year-old Malik Miner, of Midlothian, Texas, on charges including one count of capital murder, three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and one count of deadly conduct. On December 10, 2025, members of the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force apprehended Miner in Midlothian without incident, according to a press release from the Arlington Police Department.

The incident occurred on November 12, 2025, when a 28-year-old man called 911 to report that he and his girlfriend had been shot while traveling westbound on I-20 near Bowman Springs Road. The man managed to exit the highway and stop in a parking lot on Little Road, where first responders arrived. His girlfriend, 29-year-old Bre’Asia Johnson, was found unresponsive with a gunshot wound and later pronounced dead at a hospital. Detectives discovered she was pregnant at the time.

The 28-year-old man sustained serious injuries but has since been released from the hospital. Two children in the back seat of the vehicle were also taken to the hospital for evaluation but were not seriously injured. A second vehicle was struck by gunfire, but its occupants were unharmed and not believed to be involved in the incident.

Detectives, after reviewing witness statements and video footage, concluded that the shooting was targeted and not a result of road rage. They learned that Miner had previously been in a romantic relationship with Johnson and had ongoing disputes with her current boyfriend. A search of Miner’s home led to the seizure of multiple items, including his cell phone, which revealed prior communication with the 28-year-old man. Cell phone location records placed Miner at the crime scene and suggested he followed the victims’ vehicle that night.

After consulting with the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office, detectives proceeded with filing charges. Miner declined to speak to investigators following his arrest, stated the Arlington Police Department.
