LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Lubbock Fire Rescue met with the public, played some pickleball and showed off some of its equipment at its inaugural “Fire in the Kitchen”.
The department reports it is continually looking for new ways to connect with the community. This was a more laid-back and fun way.
Everyone was invited to play pickleball, either with or against firefighters, while getting a chance to ask questions.
The crew members say they want you to know they are always there to help.
“Being able to tie all those components together and being able to figure out, we are your Lubbock firefighters, these are your Lubbock fire apparatus, we are here to serve you,” said Lubbock Fire Rescue public information officer Derek Delgado.
“We want to make sure you know who is serving you.”
If you missed the event, don’t worry. Delgado says they are planning to host additional matches in the future.
