FORT WORTH, Texas — A suspect has been arrested in connection with a homicide investigation following the discovery of a body in a shallow grave in north Fort Worth. The Fort Worth Police Department initially received a missing person report on December 2, 2025, which led to the investigation.
The case, identified as report #250091257, was first handled by the Major Case Unit before being transferred to homicide detectives when foul play was suspected. On December 22, 2025, detectives found the missing person deceased in Denton County, according to a press release from the Fort Worth Police Department.
The suspect, 23-year-old Alexander James Nicholas, provided a statement to detectives, claiming he left the victim alive after they left a party together on November 30, 2025. However, evidence contradicting his statement led to his arrest. The investigation is ongoing, and additional arrests may occur as more information emerges.
The victim and suspect were known to share an acquaintance, and the incident appears to be isolated. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the official cause and manner of death and confirm the victim’s identity.
Nicholas is being held on a $300,000 bond.
