HOUSTON, Texas (KCBD) – Despite leading for most of the second half, the No. 14 Texas Tech Red Raiders (11-4, 1-1 Big 12) fell to the No. 7 Houston Cougars 69-65 Tuesday night at the Fertitta Center. With 1:41 left in the game, Kingston Flemings turned in a go-ahead jumper and the Cougars stayed in front for the remainder of the game.
Tech’s freshman guard Jaylen Petty turned in a career-high 20 points, including five successful three-pointers. JT Toppin had 18 on the night, and Donovan Atwell registered 13. Christian Anderson only had seven points, including a three-pointer right as the game ended.
Up next for the Red Raiders is the 11-3 Colorado Buffaloes, tip-off set for 6 p.m. CT in Boulder, Colo. The team returns home Wednesday, Jan. 14 to face the Utah Utes. The Red Raiders will once again face the Cougars later this month on Saturday, Jan. 24.
