Likely needing two wide receivers from the NCAA transfer portal and with the hopes of landing former Auburn Tigers star Cam Coleman seemingly fading by the hour, the Texas Longhorns are expected to host Vanderbilt Commodores transfer Tre Richardson this week.

Georgia has already hosted Richardson with a visit planned to Louisville on Thursday.

The rise of the 5’10, 175-pounder to just outside the top 50 portal prospects in the country, according to the 247Sports rankings, is a remarkable one.

Out of Topeka, Kan., Richardson landed at Hutchinson CC in 2023 and posted 1,332 all-purpose yards as a dynamic return specialist before transferring to Toledo. It was a short stay for Richardson there, as he left Ohio for DII Washburn during the spring,

“I felt like it would be nice to play in front of a crowd that I know and knows me since high school,” Richardson told a Topeka website. “I’ve seen how the community helps Washburn and shows love and comes to the games and supports everybody and that’s what I want around me and my son. I want him around a caring community and I feel like that’s Washburn.”

Back home in Topeka, Richardson recorded 52 catches for 983 yards and 11 touchdowns and averaged 24.1 yards per kick return.

Richardson spent the 2025 season at Vanderbilt, where his elite speed made him a dangerous weapon, notching 46 receptions for 806 yards and seven touchdowns, an average of 17.5 yards per reception. On the ground, Richardson added 62 yards on 11 rushes while returning 17 kickoffs for 427 yards, 25.1 yards per return.
