  • January 8, 2026

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – A Lubbock grand jury indicted a medical employee in connection with smuggling drugs into the Lubbock County Detention Center.

Tracy Damron was caught with several bags of medication during a bag check in March 2024, according to court documents.

The drugs were sorted in several small envelopes used to dispense inmate medication. One of the drugs found was Clonazepam, a controlled substance.

Medical staff are required to log any doses given to inmates. Possession of any controlled substance in a correctional facility is a third-degree felony.

Damron faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
