PHOENIX — Quick-serve healthy food chain Salad and Go will move its headquarters back to Arizona and close all locations in Texas and Oklahoma, according to a new report.

CEO Mike Tattersfield told the Phoenix Business Journal that the company will close seven stores in Oklahoma and 25 stores in Texas, along with its headquarters and central kitchen in Dallas.

Salad and Go was founded in Gilbert in 2013 and grew quickly due to its low-cost salads. The company expanded to Texas in the early 2020s.

However, Tattersfield, who took over as CEO in April 2025, said the expansion and building of the kitchen in Dallas was a flawed plan that created an “economic burden” for the company.

“On day one, I knew I’d have to figure out something because the current way that we were expanding was not as thoughtful or strategic as it could be,” he said.

The closure of the locations in Texas and Oklahoma will affect about 600 employees and comes after Salad and Go closed 41 restaurants in Texas in September 2025.

What comes next for Salad and Go?

Since relocating its headquarters to Texas, Salad and Go has maintained an office in the Valley that can hold about 25 people. Tattersfield said the plan is keep that space running for the next 18 to 24 months, while corporate employees are relocated from Texas. After that time, the company plans to open a larger headquarters in the Valley.

Additionally, the CEO plans to focus on Salad and Go’s history as an Arizona-based company by investing in existing restaurants and introducing new menu items, such as a “Big Az Burrito” or “Big Az Drinks.”

“If you really want to grow a brand successfully, you do it with your heritage,” Tattersfield said. “You don’t run away from it, you actually need to lean on it and then make sure it’s really distinguished.”

Salad and Go’s seven Las Vegas area locations will remain open and Tattersfield added that he could see the company expanding into Southern California in the future.
