FRISCO, Texas — Universal Kids Resort is still under construction, but the excitement is at an all-time high after the theme park released renderings and additional details.

Universal Destinations & Experiences released renderings of what this construction will eventually look like.

The 97-acre site will have seven different themed worlds, which will include:

DreamWorks’ Shrek’s Swamp
DreamWorks’ Puss in Boots Del Mar
Illumination’s Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club
Jurassic World Adventure Camp
DreamWorks’ TrollsFest
Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants Bikini Bottom
Isle of Curiosity

“It’s been very exciting; the excitement has been building,” said Josh Dill, the assistant executive director of Visit Frisco.

He says North Texans are excited that the first Universal theme park in Texas is in their backyard.

“And I think that’s intentional. This is an entertainment company, and they know how to get us excited for this,” said Dill.

The Universal Kids Resort will be the first of its kind, specially created for families with young children.

Dill says Frisco is already a hotspot for tourists and expects more people to flock to the area once the Universal Kids Resort is completed.

“Pretty serious tourism here. Right now, Visit Frisco is bucking the trends regionally and nationally in tourism. We are having strong tourism numbers. Lots of visitors, things like that. So we do expect this to add to that and keep us a vibrant destination year-round,” he said.

The theme park was announced back in January 2023. Frisco city officials are expecting millions of visitors and new businesses. Universal Kids Resort will open sometime in 2026.
