50 people detained in Houston-area immigration raids this week

Fifty people were detained during a series of immigration raids carried out across the Houston area this week, according to the Texas attorney general’s office.stated that its Criminal Investigation Division led the operations and transferred those detained

The agency stated that its Criminal Investigation Division led the operations and transferred those detained to federal authorities.

Operations targeted multiple locations and businesses that investigators say were connected to criminal activity.

The attorney general’s office also confirmed it recently entered into a 287(g) agreement with the federal government, which allows state agencies to assist with certain immigration enforcement duties. Additional operations are expected.Similar operations are expected to continue across the region.
