Candidate deadlines approaching for city, school board elections

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Candidates for the upcoming City of Lubbock can file to run from Jan. 14 to Feb. 13.

Several candidates have already declared their intention to run for office.

On your ballot, you can expect to see candidates for Districts 1, 3, and 5 on the Lubbock City Council, along with the mayor’s race.

District 3 Councilman David Glasheen says he is stepping down and has endorsed current Republican Party Chair David Bruegel. Ken Adams will be the new party chair.

Adam Hernandez is also running for District 3. The civic activist is a member of the Lubbock Compact and has previously run for mayor.

District 5 Councilwoman Dr. Jennifer Wilson has declared she’s seeking another term.

District 1 Councilwoman Christy Martinez-Garcia has not said what her intentions are this election cycle.
