BOULDER, Colo. (KCBD) – Whether it came from the high altitude of the Rocky Mountains or Colorado’s comeback attempt in the second half, the No. 14 Texas Tech Red Raiders (12-4, 2-1 Big 12) had plenty of reasons to be out of breath Saturday night as they escaped the CU Events Center with a 73-71 win over the Buffaloes.
Tech led 50-27 shortly after the break, until freshman guard Isaiah Johnson registered 21 second-half points and the Buffaloes snuck up on the Red Raiders late in the game. A three-point attempt from Colorado guard Barrington Hargress bounced off the rim as time expired and Tech held on for its second victory in Big 12 play, first on the road.
Donovan Atwell led the Red Raiders with 17 points (including five three pointers), JT Toppin had 16 points and 13 rebounds, Christian Anderson scored 15 points- including a three-pointer, right as the first half ended.
Tech men will return to the United Supermarkets Arena Wednesday night and host the Utah Utes. Tip-off scheduled for 8 p.m.
