The transfer portal officially opened on Jan. 2 and players have until Jan. 16 to declare their intentions to enter the portal. There are some exceptions, such as players on College Football Playoff participants getting an extra five days afer their season ends to enter, or players being able to transfer if there is a coaching change.

We are a little bit over a week into transfer portal season, which should carry on well past Jan. 16 since players don’t have to commit by that date, they just have to enter by that date. Given the elimination of the spring transfer portal window, this year’s January portal window is full of action with big names changing schools all over the place.

So far, Texas, Texas Tech and Oklahoma State are the only schools to land a five-star transfer. The Longhorns landed Auburn WR Cam Coleman, the Red Raiders landed Cincinnati QB Brendan Sorsby and the Cowboys secured North Texas QB Drew Mestemaker.
