North Texas is bringing out the red lanterns and getting ready to celebrate the Year of the Horse during the Chinese Lunar New Year. The holiday is celebrated especially in Asian countries such as China, Vietnam, Mongolia, and North and South Korea. It marks the start of a 15-day spring festival and this year, it begins on Feb. 17.
Here are some free Lunar New Year events happening across North Texas.
19TH ANNUAL LUNAR NEW YEAR 2026 ASIA TIMES SQUARE
Celebrate Lunar New Year over the course of three weekends at one of the biggest Lunar New Year events hosted in North Texas. There will be food and art vendors, plus performers and a special fireworks event with the lion and dragon dance.

THE CITY OF RICHARDSON LUNAR NEW YEAR 2026
Have a traditional Asian experience at this free Lunar New Year festival. It will host dragon and lion dances, musical and martial arts demos, art making, calligraphy, booths and cultural performances. There will be a shuttle from the free parking at the DART-Arapaho Center Station.

FRISCO LUNAR NEW YEAR MARKET FESTIVAL
The sixth annual Frisco Lunar New Year Market Festival will be a day full of cultural performances, food and fun activities for the whole family.

GALLERIA DALLAS LATERN FESTIVAL
Visit Galleria Dallas and view almost 150 Chinese lanterns hanging on all levels above the ice rink.

LUNAR NEW YEAR CELEBRATION AT THE KIMBELL
Attend an hour-long event co-hosted by the Kimbell and the Fort Worth Sister Cities International. The event will take place at the Piano Pavilion and will feature performances, art making and an Asian art-themed scavenger hunt.

SOUTHLAKE SPRING FESTIVAL

LUNAR NEW YEAR FESTIVAL AT NORTHPARK CENTER
The Crow Museum of Asian Art of the University of Texas at Dallas and Bookmarks Dallas Public Library present this free Lunar New Year Festival at NorthPark Center. There will be a Lion Dance performance by Rising Phoenix, a performance by the Dallas Asian Winds , plus crafts and activities for the whole family.
