EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) – In this segment of “Legal Jargon,” attorney Daniella Labinoti provided crucial advice for individuals involved in accidents with 18-wheelers.
Labinoti emphasized the importance of gathering evidence at the scene, stating, “Make sure you take a lot of pictures, make sure you take a lot of videos, and make sure you take the phone numbers and the names of any witnesses around.” She warned against speaking to the truck driver’s insurance without legal representation, noting, “These companies are trained to not admit fault and they are trained to always blame the person they hit.”
Labinoti highlighted the complexity of such cases, which often require accident reconstruction and extensive investigation.
“We had a case where the truck driver was driving for 27 hours and fell asleep,” she said, underscoring the need for expert analysis to uncover critical data.
She also stressed the severe impact of collisions with semis, explaining, “The force by a semi is a lot. And the damages that could happen to your body in a semi can be significant.”
The attorney advised hiring a lawyer to handle the intricate legal processes, as trucking companies possess substantial resources to contest claims.
“Make sure you have someone fighting for you,” Labinoti urged, emphasizing the necessity of legal expertise in navigating these challenging cases.
