LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The Planters Nutmobile pulled into the KCBD parking lot Monday afternoon before continuing on its cross-country tour.
Since 1935, the large peanut on wheels has been traveling the country promoting Mr. Peanut and the iconic brand.

Behind the wheel of the 26-foot-long nutshell are “Peanutters,” who spend a year as ambassadors for Planters with plenty of product to hand out. They are inviting others to apply online to be part of the program.
The ambassadors said it’s a joy to see the reaction that the head-turning 13,000-pound vehicle brings to those who see it pass by.
“Today in the modern nutmobile we’re in class 12 so we’ve been doing this a little more than a decade and it’s been awesome to travel around the country and make new memories everywhere we go,” one ambassador said.

“We get a lot of smiles, waves, honks, everyone is really excited to see it because it’s not something you see every day so it’s been fun,” another said.
The Nutmobile is headed to Amarillo Tuesday but will return to Lubbock for a visit to Texas Tech University from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday. The ambassadors invite people to come say “shell-o.”
