AUSTIN, Texas (KWTX) — Austin police say a 19-year-old man was shot to death at a downtown hotel after he wrecked a borrowed car.
Officers and Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services responded about 6:55 a.m. Jan. 5 to a report of a gunshot at the Cambria Hotel at 68 East Avenue.
The first responders found Luke Bradburn suffering from significant injuries, police said. Bradburn was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:33 a.m.
Homicide detectives and crime-scene specialists investigated and interviewed witnesses.
The probe found that Bradburn had earlier driven a vehicle belonging to another man, which was later crashed.
After the crash, Bradburn and other occupants fled the scene of the wreck and returned to the hotel, where police said the vehicle’s owner, identified as 20-year-old Maximillian Salinas, fatally shot Bradburn.
