The research focuses on understanding how to transform Martian regolit — the loose, rocky material that covers the planet’s surface — into a medium capable of supporting plant life.

3. Officials urge caution amid rabies outbreak in Hays County, surrounding areas

Officials are urging caution after the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) confirmed a rabies outbreak in Hays County and surrounding areas.

According to a public health alert from the Hays County Health Department, most cases tied to the outbreak have involved foxes, which are common carriers of the disease in Texas.

‘American Sons’ documentary about Texas Marine makes national debut on PBS

In 2025, the U.S. Marine Corps celebrated 250 years since its founding. And this year, America joins the major milestone when it turns 250 years old as well. 

These two turning points made the perfect backdrop for Texas filmmakers to share the story of a young service member who was killed in Afghanistan during his deployment, while highlighting the issues affecting service members and veterans.
