Charles Alan Works was born on September 27, 1988, in Denton Texas. He passed away while on duty from a medical episode on December 24, 2025, while serving on the DFW Airport Police Department. Alan was a beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to many who will miss him dearly.

Alan grew up in Denton, Texas where he attended Denton High School. After high school, Alan started his law enforcement career in 2007 with the Denton County Sheriff’s Office as a detention officer. He served as a Police Officer with Tarrant County College District Police Department from 2013 to 2020 before joining DFW Airport Police Department as a lateral transfer in April 2020. He served as a Field Training Officer and in August 2022, he was promoted to Sergeant, a role in which he quickly earned the respect of those he led and worked alongside. Alan received a Certificate of Merit in 2023 for exemplary service. Alan served as a member of the Police Honor Guard. He was a Certified TCOLE Instructor, Advanced Instructor, Mental Health Peace Officer, and held a Master Peace Office Certification reflecting his commitment to training and professionalism.

He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Jackie Works, and stepfather, Tony Featherstone. Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Margaret Duncan Featherstone of Sanger; his father, Timothy Works of Gainesville; a brother, Hal Duncan (Asami) of Tokyo, Japan; his step-brothers, Charles Keith of New Orleans, and Austin Featherstone (Carrie) of Frederick, Maryland; his step-sisters, Tammie Lindley (Mike) of Lewisville, Jodie Templin (Richard) of Gainesville, Cammie Ramos (Arturo) of Overbrook, Oklahoma, and Lauren Featherstone (Josh) of Plano; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

His Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2026, at First Baptist Church in Decatur. FBCD is located at 1200 Preskitt Road, Decatur, TX 76234. Sgt. David Hornsby will officiate. The DFW International Airport Police Honor Guard will serve as pallbearers. There will be a private graveside for family, close friends and his DFW Airport Police brothers and sisters immediately following the service.
