CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Drivers traveling on I-37 and US 77 can expect daytime lane closures this week as part of the ongoing Nueces River Bridge Reconstruction Project.

The Texas Department of Transportation has announced that single-lane daytime closures will be in place daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. until Friday, Jan. 16, to allow crews to complete paving work safely.

Alternating northbound lane closures are scheduled along Interstate 37 connecting to US 77 for roadway milling and hot mix placement. Beginning Wednesday through Friday, similar alternating lane closures will affect the US 77 southbound direct connector to I-37.

TxDOT will add lane closures between Sharpsburg Road and US 77 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Sundays through Thursdays, until further notice.

This current phase of the project includes final roadway surfacing and pavement markings, opening the overpass over I-37 at US 77, completing new northbound I-37 entrance and exit ramps at Sharpsburg and Labonte Park, and finishing installation of lighting, signage, and intelligent transportation systems.

The $85 million project will rebuild approximately three miles of I-37 from south of Redbird Lane to the US 77 interchange, including replacement of the Nueces River bridge.
