NEW HOME, Texas (KCBD) – The New Home Leopards (5-1) are the End Zone Team of the Week after defeating Abernathy in shutout fashion 39-0 to open up district play 1-0 Friday night!
The Leopards opened up the 2025 season with a 49-7 loss against Lubbock-Cooper Liberty but since then have gone on to win five straight games. New Home has beaten Ropes 28-14, Muleshoe 34-14, Denver City 48-14, and now a shutout victory over Abernathy.
The Leopards have tallied 179 points on offense since Week 2, and that is thanks to the “everybody eats” mentality from the offense that have only allowed a total of 45 points, 17 in the last three games, thanks to the Leopard defense.
The Leopards went up 25-0 headed into halftime but continued to pour on two more touchdowns in that second half. Brayson Beck led the team with Parker Liles, Lincoln Preston, Colby Cook, Ryder Starkey, Avin Madrid and so many more on the offensive side of the ball. On the defensive side, multiple Leopards making plays including Camden Hendrix, Colby Cook, Haden Brumley and Greyson Snell.
Next up, the New Home Leopards host the Floydada Whirlwinds at 7 p.m. Friday night from Leopard Field at New Home High School. The Whirlwinds are 0-6 to start the 2025 season and have been struggling to find the endzone putting up a total of 28 points throughout six games, including three games without any points on the board.
