El Paso police investigators have arrested two men suspected in a shooting outside a Northeast bar over the weekend at the Sunrise Village retail center.

Santiago Carrillo, 30, and Saul Angel Ramirez, 20, were both arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, stated a police news release by police spokeswoman Detective Judy Oviedo.

The shooting occurred in the vicinity of El Guapo’s Cantina at 10:45 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 10, at the Sunrise Village retail center, 8500 Dyer St., police reported.

Patrol officers and the Gang Suppression Unit responded to a shots-fired call. An investigation found that “there was an altercation that escalated to gunfire,” police stated.

A 27-year-old man, whose name was not released, was listed as the victim but police did not release any information on the extent of his injuries, if any.

El Paso County jail records show that Ramirez was booked on Tuesday, Jan. 13, and is being held without bond pending a court hearing. Carrillo was booked on a $50,000 bond on Monday, Jan. 12. Both remain incarcerated at the Downtown jail.
