WALLACE COUNTY, Kan. — A single-vehicle accident early Monday morning in Wallace County resulted in injuries to a Texas driver.
The crash occurred just after 2 a.m. on Kansas Highway 27, approximately thirteen miles north of Sharon Springs, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP).
A 2007 Dodge pickup, driven by 20-year-old Chance E. Collins of Amarillo, Texas, was northbound on K-27 when the driver reported feeling the vehicle strike an object in the road. The pickup then veered into the west ditch.
The KHP report indicates the truck struck a field access point, which caused it to go airborne and roll end over end one time before coming to rest on its roof in the ditch.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) transported Collins to Goodland Regional Medical Center for treatment. According to the KHP, the driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
