Today, I attended the State of the Port of Corpus Christi presentation by Chairman David Engel at the Hilliard Center in Corpus Christi.
The event’s theme was “Everyone is Part of the Port,” which highlighted the important role of the community in the port’s success.
During his speech, Chairman Engel shared some important statistics. The port has an $18 billion impact on the Texas economy and a $13 billion impact on the Corpus Christi economy. The port is proud to be the number one crude oil exporter in the US, the second largest export gateway for LNG and the third largest crude oil exporter in the world.
We also heard from a strong panel discussing “An Inside Look at the Future of our Coastal Bend,” featuring Nishita Singh from Cheniere Energy, Christine Welchel from Pin Oak, Jesse Gilbert from the Texas State Aquarium, and Dr. Mark Escamilla from Del Mar College.
I appreciate Chairman Engel for his leadership and dedicated service to the Port of Corpus Christi. With his guidance, the port has seen great success, and I am confident that this positive trend will continue in the future.
I would also like to thank the United Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce for hosting this successful event.
