ARLINGTON, Texas (KWTX) – It was 30 years ago today that 9-year-old Amber Hagerman was abducted as she was riding her bike in North Texas.
Police said the girl was taken near E. Abram Street & Browning Drive in Arlington.
Tragically, four days later, her body was found in a creek approximately four miles from where she was taken.
Amber’s case later led to the creation of the AMBER Alert, a nationwide alert system that has led to the safe recovery of hundreds of missing children.

“While we take great pride in that legacy, we want to remind the public that Amber’s case remains unsolved — and we are committed to delivering justice for her and her family,” the Arlington Police Department wrote in a social media post.
Detectives continue to follow up on tips from the public and are consulting with crime labs to see if there any new advancements in forensic technology that may help them identify Amber’s killer.
