WISD ag students rack up honors at county show

Wylie ISD agricultural science students earned a wide range of honors at the 2026 Collin County Junior Livestock Show and Sale, held Jan. 3–9 at Myers Park in McKinney, with students from Wylie High School and Wylie East High School competing across multiple livestock and horticulture divisions.

In the broiler competition, Wylie High School student Angelica finished 59th and 60th overall, while fellow WHS student Jake placed 21st.

Market rabbit exhibitors saw strong results from both campuses. Jake P. of Wylie High School captured first place in the heavyweight division, earning Champion Heavy Weight and Grand Champion Market Rabbit honors, and placed 11th with another entry. Brody H. of Wylie East earned Reserve Champion Heavy Weight with a second-place finish. Other market rabbit placements included Adeline M. placing 13th and Jordin D. placing 12th, both making the sale for Wylie East, along with Faith H. placing 15th.

Breeding rabbit competition featured numerous breed divisions and multiple champions. In Holland Lops, Erna K. placed seventh in senior buck and Amanda W. placed eighth, both from Wylie East, while Jordin D. earned first in junior buck. Emily W. earned first in junior buck and second in senior doe in Jersey Wooly. Kyrie G. placed first in senior doe for Netherland Dwarf. Allissya B. placed second in Polish for Wylie High. In Mini Lop, Leah K. earned first and Reserve Champion for Wylie High, while Kaitlyn H. placed fourth and Amanda W. placed third. Jillian L. of Wylie High had multiple Silver Fox placements, finishing first, fifth and sixth in senior doe, and also earned Champion and Reserve Champion honors in Dwarf Papillon senior doe and buck. Additional champions included Angelica G. in Havana, Aliyah P. earning Reserve Champion French Lop, Charlee W. winning Champion Himalayan, Kate N. earning Champion honors in both Britannia Petite and Tan, and Amanda W. capturing Champion and Reserve Champion Lionhead honors.

Market goat exhibitors also posted strong showings. Juliet S. of Wylie East earned first place and made the sale, while Mimi E. of Wylie High placed second and earned Reserve Champion Light Weight. Abigail F. earned a Reserve Champion Medium Weight title and also placed fourth. Other sale qualifiers included Olivia E., Josslyn W., Cash W., Paityn M., and Charlee W. Additional placements included Alexis S. in seventh, Audrey P. in sixth, Emerson P. in eighth, Gracie K. in ninth, Cole M. in seventh, Lyla F. in seventh, and multiple fifth-place finishes by Madeline M. and Melia M.

In market lamb competition, Juliet S. of Wylie East earned Grand Champion Medium Wool and Grand Champion Market Lamb honors. Southdown placements included Nyah R. placing third and Kaitlyn B. placing fourth, both making the sale, while Lea L. placed seventh. Medium wool exhibitors included Camryn W. in fifth, Alexis B. in sixth, Adelyna N. in seventh, MaryKate R. in sixth, Kaitlyn B. in sixth, and Brooklyn J. in eighth. Additional sale qualifiers included Lillian G., Makensie H., Lacey S., Elyssa L. and Jillian L.

Market swine competition featured one of the largest groups of Wylie ISD exhibitors. First-place finishers included Cambrie C. of Wylie East, Dakota M. of Wylie High, and Claire M. of Wylie High, who also earned Breed Champion and Reserve Champion Senior Showman honors. Additional sale qualifiers included Josephine S., Chloe C., Resse P., Morgan C., and Teghan J. Other placements extended throughout the field, including multiple fifth-, sixth-, seventh- and eighth-place finishes by students from both campuses, reflecting the depth of participation across the program.

In the steer division, Bree W. of Wylie High placed fifth, while Kaitlyn T. of Wylie East placed sixth.

Horticulture entries rounded out the competition, with Carly R. earning second place and making the sale for Wylie High, Caleigh N. placing fifth for Wylie East and Kaitlyn B. placing eighth for Wylie High.

“I am so proud of the dedication and hard work our students put into this year’s Collin County Stock Show,” Wylie East FFA Advisor Kassi Klakamp said. “While the placings are exciting, they are only a small reflection of the commitment, growth and responsibility each student showed throughout their project.”
