The NCAA transfer portal window will close Friday at 11:59 p.m. CT, barring any players from entering their name into the portal. This means that Texas State football will not lose any more players who have signed to its roster, although it can still sign players who entered before the deadline. This also includes potentially bringing back former departees who want to return to San Marcos.

The Bobcats retained key offensive contributors, like quarterback Brad Jackson, running back Greg Burrell and wide receivers Beau Sparks and Chris Dawn Jr. However, the defensive side of the ball will look different in 2026, as Texas State lost players to the portal and graduation. The hirings of defensive coordinator Will Windham and assistant coach Marcus Patton will bring some fresh ideas to the building as well.

Here are the notable losses and a roundup of Texas State’s activity in the transfer portal.

Texas State began the cycle by losing redshirt freshman center Brock Riker to Penn State. Riker fit right into the Bobcats’ offensive line as a first-year starter, earning a 78.7 pass block grade from Pro Football Focus and playing in all 12 regular-season games. He’ll likely be replaced by Ezra Dotson-Oyetade, who started in the Armed Forces Bowl against Rice.

On defense, Jordan Sanders will be tough to replace in the trenches. The defensive lineman was rated as Texas State’s third-best defender by PFF thanks to his ability to stop the run and occasionally force interior pressure. PFF gave him 11 pressures, 13 tackles and 11 STOPs, which are tackles that lead to a failed offensive play.

Defensive lineman Kamren Washington, defensive back Javis Mynatt and cornerback Khamari Terrell were contributors who also departed for other opportunities. Washington started alongside Sanders on the interior, while Terrell was one of Texas State’s top two cornerbacks. Mynatt flashed at times, but the Bobcats have a dearth of young talent in the secondary itching for playing time.

A few redshirt seniors entered the portal, as well. Safety Bobby Crosby, defensive lineman Amipeleasi Langi Jr. and edges Kalil Alexander and Tymere Jackson are junior college products who are awaiting a court ruling that could grant them an extra year of eligibility.

Kicker Tyler Robles had an incredible season for Texas State, hitting 21/23 field goal attempts and all but one extra point. Despite initially announcing his return, he eventually transferred to Washington.

This list will be updated as final portal entries and signings are made.
