Less than an hour later, around 5 a.m., officers were called to the 6800 block of West Military Drive for an assault in progress.
Police said a 57-year-old man, identified as a security guard, had been struggling with a 46-year-old woman who had previously been banned from the property.
According to a preliminary police report, the security guard was struck multiple times before officers arrived. The report did not state with what the man was struck.
The woman was detained at the scene. As officers were interviewing the security guard, he collapsed face down on the pavement, police said.
He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
