LUBBOCK, Texas — A fire broke out in a storage unit near the 5700 block of 134th Street, prompting a swift response from Lubbock Fire Rescue. The blaze was contained to two units, according to officials.
Just after 6:15 p.m., Lubbock Fire Rescue received a 911 call reporting a possible storage unit fire. Station 19 arrived on the scene and observed light smoke emanating from the eaves of a storage unit. Crews forced entry into the involved unit and encountered heavy fire conditions, while additional crews checked adjacent units for fire extension.
The quick actions of the responding crews ensured the fire was contained to two storage units. It was later determined that the location was outside the city limits, and the incident was transferred to Lubbock County fire units for continued suppression operations and investigation, according to a press release from Lubbock Fire Rescue.
