LUBBOCK, Texas (January 17, 2026) – No. 11 Lubbock Christian University used a dominant second-half surge to pull away for a 77–63 Lone Star Conference victory over Eastern New Mexico Saturday afternoon at Rip Griffin Center.
Â
After falling behind early, LCU seized control by outscoring the Greyhounds 24–12 in the third quarter, turning a three-point halftime edge into a commanding double-digit lead it never relinquished. The Lady Chaps trailed for more than 14 minutes of the first half but closed the second quarter on a late run to take a 37–34 advantage into the break.
Â
Kennedy Chappell delivered one of the finest performances of her career, finishing with 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting and a career-high 14 rebounds. The effort made her just the second different Lady Chaps player in the program’s NCAA era to post at least 20 points and 14 rebounds in a game. Chappell scored in double figures for the 13th consecutive contest and recorded her second double-double of the season (and her career).
Â
Freshman Meg Meekins paced LCU with a game-high 24 points, shooting 8-of-17 from the field and adding seven free throws. Martie McCoy chipped in nine points and four assists without a turnover, while Raegan Lee added 10 points on a perfect 2-of-2 shooting night from the floor and 4-of-4 at the foul line.
Â
Eastern New Mexico (12–5, 8–1 LSC), which entered on a six-game winning streak, was led by Ashala Moseberry with 19 points, while Aaliyah Smith added nine points and Mekhila Brown scored seven off the bench. The Greyhounds built an early 22–16 lead behind efficient perimeter shooting but struggled offensively after halftime, shooting just 38.9 percent at the free-throw line and 35.9 percent from the field.
Â
LCU’s third-quarter run included scoring bursts of 14–0 and 18–2, as the Lady Chaps capitalized at the foul line and limited ENMU’s second-chance opportunities during the stretch. Lubbock Christian finished the game shooting 50.0 percent from the floor and a season-high 24-of-31 at the free-throw line.
Â
The victory marked LCU’s 10th consecutive win over Eastern New Mexico and improved the Lady Chaps to 15–3 overall and 7–2 in conference play, while extending their home success inside Rip Griffin Center.
How It Happened
The game commenced with Martie McCoy opening the scoring for the Chaps with a layup at 9:23. Aaliyah Smith responded for the Greyhounds with a three-pointer, which was soon followed by a fast-break layup and free throw from Chloe Dallas at 8:00, extending their lead. Kennedy Chappell kept the Lady Chaps within reach, contributing a layup at 4:34 and a three-pointer at 2:26. However, Eastern New Mexico had three-point plays in six of their first seven scoring plays (three three-pointers from outside) and found success from Aaliyah Smith (three three-pointers and nine points in the quarter), closing the first quarter on an 8-3 run for a  22-16 lead at quarter’s close. Chappell led LCU with seven points in the quarter.
Â
Lubbock Christian outscored ENMU 21-12 in the second quarter, leading to a competitive half. Raegan Lee initiated the scoring for the Lady Chaps with two free throws at 8:58, narrowing the gap. Chappell’s layup at 7:54 and subsequent defensive rebound shifted momentum, while Meg Meekins contributed a fast-break jumper at 7:00 to tie the game, as LCU opened the quarter on a 9-3 run. With 1:37 remaining, Chappell’s three-pointer, assisted by McCoy, gave the Chaps a slight edge (35-32). McCoy solidified the lead with a layup in the final seconds, ensuring they entered the half with a 37-34 advantage. Despite trailing for more than 14 minutes of the half (14:23) LCU led behind Meekins and Chappell each posting eight points in the period. Chappell finished the half with 15 points and eight rebounds.
Â
The Chaps extended their lead in the third quarter with a strong performance, outscoring the Greyhounds 24-12. McCoy opened up a 24-5 scoring run with a jumper, followed by a pair of field goals from Meekins, including a three-pointer at 7:24. Tia Johnson was effective at the free-throw line, contributing four points from free throws, as LCU had 14 of their 24 points during the run from the free-throw line. Despite a late three-pointer from Ashala Moseberry, which ended the run, the Greyhounds could not close the gap, ending the quarter trailing 61-46. Additionally on the 24-5 run, LCU had scoring stretches of 14-0 and 18-2, and did not have a field goal for the final 6:23 of the quarter (Raegan Lee’s three-pointer with 6:23 remaining in the period was LCU’s only field goal over a span of 7 minutes, as LCU missed 4 consecutive field goal attempts, which went unnoticed because of LCU’s final 12 points of the third quarter scored at the free-throw line). Meekins led LCU in the quarter with nine points.
Â
The Chaps secured a confident victory over the Greyhounds despite a late scoring surge by the visitors, as like the third quarter, LCU closed the quarter with a scoring drought from the field (did not tally a field goal over the final 6:11 of the game, only attempting three-field goal attempts in the span). The fourth quarter saw Meekins open the scoring with a jumper, extending Lubbock Christian’s lead. Eastern N.M.’s Moseberry contributed with a layup and a three-pointer, but Chappell responded with multiple layups, keeping the Chaps ahead. With 7:10 left, Lee added a three-pointer, assisted by Meekins, pushing the lead to 68-53. Lee’s three-pointer sparked an 8-0 LCU run capped by Taylor Allen’s three-pointer with 6:11 remaining to bump LCU’s lead to 73-53. Fourteen (14) different Lady Chaps touched the floor in the quarter. Meekins, who co-led LCU with four points in the final quarter, finished the half with 13 points.
