AUSTIN, Texas — The City of Austin has extended its cold weather shelter activation through Sunday night as temperatures are forecasted to remain in the mid-30s into Monday morning.
Austin Homeless Strategies and Operations says that registration will occur again at One Texas Center (OTC) at 505 Barton Springs Road, the location acting as the central embarkation point for those seeking overnight shelter. Registration will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday evening.
Transportation will be provided to the OTC on the 1, 7, 10, 20, 30, 105 and 801 bus routes. The City says that those who can’t afford the bus fare will be given a ride free of charge.

An after-hours embarkation service will also be available for those seeking transportation to a shelter outside of the embarkation period.
Guests may bring their belongings as long as they can transport them on a CapMetro bus. The City says meals will be provided.
Families with children and unaccompanied minors will be provided hotel lodging.
