SAN ANTONIO – The MLK Commission held its annual Youth and Empowerment Summit at MLK Park on the east side, drawing people of all ages for games, workshops, and performances in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy.
“This is a space where they get to come and they get to be themselves. They get to tear down some of the walls some of the division between age groups. They also get to come here and lead,” says Tunette Powell, the Youth Empowerment Chair for the MLK Commission.
The summit is part of DreamWeek San Antonio, culminating in the annual MLK March in the city.
The march will be broadcast live on News 4 San Antonio at 11 a.m. Monday and streamed on our website starting at 10 a.m.
