A viral fundraiser is showing love to the San Antonio Zoo while exacting revenge on exes of Valentine’s Day past.

The zoo’s annual Cry Me a Cockroach initiative is “back and bigger than ever,” according to its website. With a donation, people ages 18 and older can symbolically name a cockroach after an ex-lover.

This cockroach will then be fed to one of the zoo’s animals.

Fundraiser participants can select a rat or vegetables instead of a cockroach, if they so choose. Both cockroaches and vegetables are a $5 donation, while a rat is a $15 donation. The prices are decreased from last year, when a vegetable cost $5, a cockroach cost $10 and a rat cost $25.

Along with an act of satisfying payback, donors will receive a downloadable Valentine’s Day card and a Valentine’s Day video featuring a zoo resident. The zoo will also post feeding videos on its social media platforms.

For those who want to embrace romance rather than revenge, the San Antonio Zoo is offering its Wild at Heart Dining Experience on Feb. 14. The event includes a cocktail mixer with appetizers at the hippo overlook followed by dinner in the hippo viewing cave.

A week before, on Feb. 7, the zoo will host a Meet Your Next Ex single mingle night for people 21 years and older. Attendees can enjoy icebreaker games, music, speciality drinks and a variety show complete with a magician, acoustic musician and burlesque performances.
