EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — The bald eagle that the El Paso Zoo was nursing back to health after it was rescued has died.

According to a social media post, the El Paso Zoo said the bald eagle rescued from Silver City, New Mexico, died after being in intensive care for over a week.

The El Paso Zoo said the eagle was severely emaciated.

“We’re grateful for the community’s support as our team works to care for injured, sick, and orphaned raptors and connect El Pasoans to nature,” the El Paso Zoo wrote.

The El Paso Zoo said it is accepting donations through the Paso del Norte Community Foundation’s El Paso Zoo Fund for medical equipment.
