Hunt makes campaign stop in Lubbock for U.S. Senate race

  • January 20, 2026

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Congressman Wesley Hunt made a campaign stop in Lubbock as he seeks the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate.

Hunt, who currently represents Houston in Washington, is one of seven Republicans on the ballot for the U.S. Senate race. He believes his younger mentality gives him an edge against Senator John Cornyn and Attorney General Ken Paxton.

Hunt pledged not to become a career politician and said he would serve only two terms in the upper chamber if elected.

“The United States Senate is not a retirement community. No, the average age of a CEO in the United States is 56 years old. That’s supposed to be when your in your prime. You have enough experience to really take the experience of your past and enough youth and vigor to lead a corporation. Why is our country any different?” Hunt said.

The Republican primary will be held in March, with voters deciding who will appear on the November ballot for the Senate seat.

The Republican primary winner will face the winner of the Democratic primary between Congressional Representative Jasmine Crockett and State Rep. James Talarico in November.
