ALAMOGORDO, N.M. (KFOX14/CBS4) — A 38-year-old man was arrested in Alamogordo in connection with a gun robbery from a pawn shop in El Paso.

According to the Alamogordo Police Department, convicted felon Shawn Camu was arrested on Saturday and charged with multiple gun crimes, as authorities accuse him of burglarizing a Benny’s Pawn– taking two pistols.

APD said the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Explosives (ATF) El Paso office started the investigation and tracked Camu to Alamogordo.

Once in Alamogordo, the local PD started helping by keeping tabs on Camu.

During the surveillance operation, APD followed Camu after he left his home and pulled him over, detaining him until the arrival of ATF agents.

Afterwards, APD said investigators searched Camu’s home and vehicle, allegedly finding the two stolen pistols, an additional gun, bullets and methamphetamine.

Camu is facing the following federal charges:

Theft from a Federal Firearms Licensee.Possession of a Stolen Firearm.Interstate Transportation of a Stolen Firearm.Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

State drug charges are pending.
