AUSTIN, Texas — Austin Watershed Protection is calling on students in grades 6–12 from Austin and surrounding areas to enter the 2026 Flood Safety Video Contest. Participants are tasked with creating a short video, no longer than 30 seconds, to convey the life-saving message “Turn Around – Don’t Drown®” when roads are flooded.
The deadline for submissions is March 25, 2026, and winners will be awarded a prize and recognized at the Flood Safety Fest on April 18. Entries will be judged based on creativity, clarity, and impact, according to Austin Watershed Protection. “Austin lies in the heart of Flash Flood Alley, and flood safety education can save lives,” said Jorge Morales, Austin Watershed Protection Director.
Students can submit their entries individually or in teams, and videos can be in any language. More information and submission details are available at AustinTexas.gov/Flood-Safety-Contest.
