EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — January 27 has been established as Krystall Poppin Day in honor of the local and iconic artist, the El Paso City Council proclaimed on Tuesday, Jan. 20.
Krystall Poppin or Krystal Garcia is a Mexican-American rapper, actress, and creative entrepreneur from El Paso. Ever since she began her music journey in 2012, she has proudly represented her culture through her music, community impact, and artistic achievements.
In 2019, Garcia had the honor of opening for global sensation Cardi B, marking a milestone in her career and solidifying her presence in the hip-hop scene.
Garcia has also opened and performed at TNA wrestling events, and previously debuted her song “Undeniable Forever,” which would become the theme song of American professional wrestler Tessa Blanchard.
In 2023, she expanded her artistic career into acting. The independent film “Lost Soulz” was partially filmed and produced in Downtown El Paso. Directed by Katherine Propper, the film features Garcia as “Nina.”

Last year, Garcia released the music video for her single “Champions,” featuring Texas hip-hop legend Paul Wall. The video was filmed in the Don Haskins Center at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) and at Chicano Park under the Spaghetti Bowl.
“The only way to find peace was to write everything I felt inside. After sharing my writing with a few people, they encouraged me to record them. I never thought of myself as a musician before, but I decided to try it. After finding myself in a studio recording my first song, it was love at first sight. I felt a spark ignite within me that I never felt before. This spark grew into a burning passion and has been my purpose ever since,” Garcia said.
Garcia expressed her gratitude to God, her family, friends, and the El Paso community for allowing her to be where she is right now.
