Officials have identified the man who was found fatally shot on a Fort Worth sidewalk last week after he allegedly trespassed onto private property.
Fabian Abernathy, 47, was found by police on the ground outside the private residence after the man who shot him called 911, according to Fort Worth police and the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office.
On Jan.12, officers responded to the 3400 block of Avenue L around 6 a.m. and learned that a possible trespassing incident escalated to a shooting, police said.
The property owner had seen a man, later identified as Abernathy, attempting to gain entry to a locked garage, according to police. The owner confronted the man and told him to leave the property.
