LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Local advocacy organizations announced the launch of this year’s Texas Blue Sand Project to combat human trafficking on the South Plains.
One Voice, Voice of Hope and Open Door are partnering with United Family to promote safety and justice for human trafficking survivors. The organizations said human traffickers remain active in the region with new victims each year.
Next week, volunteers will pour blue sand into sidewalk cracks across Lubbock as a visual reminder not to let human trafficking victims slip through the cracks in society.
The campaign includes a new element this year with informational stickers placed in bathrooms at United stores. The stickers are designed to spread awareness and share information that could help or save victims.
