A slight chance of showers early today as a weak cold front moves through parts of Texas. After this brief stint of rain and warmth, an Arctic cold front moves in this weekend, increasing the likelihood of an impactful winter storm. The greatest effects are expected starting Friday through the weekend for North and Central Texas. Otherwise, the state will experience much colder temperatures lasting into early next week.

2. Winter storm watch issued for North, Central Texas
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a winter storm watch for many counties in North and Central Texas, including the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
According to their alert, there is likely to be “moderate to heavy accumulations of snow, sleet, or ice are likely across the region Friday through Saturday night. In addition, dangerous cold temperatures are expected Saturday night through Monday morning.”

Nearly one year after President Donald Trump returned to office, downtown El Paso looks dramatically different. Streets that were once crowded with migrant encampments are now largely empty, reflecting a sharp shift in federal immigration policy compared to the previous administration.
