Several school districts are canceling and rescheduling athletics and arts events this weekend as the threat of a winter storm grows.

DALLAS — Winter weather, including freezing rain, sleet, and snow and dangerous cold are looking likely this weekend, and North Texas’ school districts are responding.

WFAA’s weather team is expecting this storm system to bring significant impacts to travel and infrastructure. A Winter Storm Watch is in place for most of North Texas beginning Friday through Saturday night.

Agencies across North Texas, including grid operator ERCOT and Atmos, have been preparing for the possible winter storm all week.

As of Wednesday, Jan. 21, several school districts have already announced changes to their schedule due to the storms.
