ARLINGTON, TX – After the first week of indoor competition for the Mavericks, UT Arlington’s Daniel Armstrong, Emilia Mandl and Sophia Allen have earned Western Athletic Conference weekly honors after strong performances at the Arkansas Invitational to kick off the indoor season.
 
Junior Armstrong earned first place in the men’s 800m race (1:49.72). With that time, Armstrong ranks first in WAC and 13th in the NCAA in the men’s 800. The junior bested athletes from North Texas, Louisiana Tech, Oral Roberts and Iowa.

Mandl, the junior from Malmo, Sweden, earned first place in the women’s 800m race (2:09.23). With that time, Mandl ranks first in WAC and 34th in the NCAA in the women’s 800. The junior beat athletes from Arkansas, Iowa, Southern Miss, Oral Roberts and Louisiana Tech. 

Allen cleared 3.75m to finish fourth in the women’s pole vault at the Arkansas Invitational, outperforming competitors from SFA and Central Arkansas.

“We need every top-notch performance we can get, and these athletes delivered,” said Sauerhage. “Congrats to them!”
