After a hard-fought loss Saturday to rival Texas A&M, Texas basketball (11-7, 2-3) will try and pick up a second SEC road win in a rare meeting with Kentucky. Long the bluest of bloods in the SEC, Kentucky (12-6, 3-2) has the most wins in the history of college basketball with 2,436 and has captured eight national championships.

Wednesday’s game, which tips at 6 p.m. at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Ky., marks just the fourth all-time meeting between Kentucky and Texas, and it’s the Longhorns’ first trip to Lexington since a nonconference game in the 2014-25 season. Kentucky leads the all-time series 2-1, but Texas won last season’s game in Austin, 82-78.

Kentucky, which leads the SEC in 3-point shooting in conference play at 38.5%, rallied for a stunning 80-78 win Saturday over Tennessee. The Wildcats made 11 of their 24 shots from long distance in the victory, which means the Longhorns’ perimeter defense could key a road upset.
