AUSTIN, Texas (KCBD) – Tuesday is a great day to unplug, and it’s now official coming from Austin.
The Texas Legislature has designated October 21 as Unplug Texas Day. Senate Bill 2232 created Unplug Texas Day as a way to encourage Texans to disconnect from their electronic devices and take part in healthy activities with family and friends.
The designation means putting down phones and recharging with family, which can provide mental and physical health benefits when people step away from screens and take time to enjoy people instead.
The Texas Health and Human Services Commission is also providing parenting tips and other family support services.
