East Texas (KLTV) – A few showers will linger this evening and maybe into early tomorrow morning in Deep East Texas. Otherwise, temperatures will only drop into the mid 40s by Thursday morning. The majority of the day Thursday will be quiet with mostly cloudy skies and light winds. Light rain or drizzle moves in Thursday night into early Friday morning. There is a likely chance for rain throughout the day Friday, but it could be mostly drizzle at times. Temperatures will begin to drop to freezing after sunset Friday evening with a changeover to a freezing rain and sleet mix overnight into Saturday morning. Accumulations could be light to start the day Saturday, but a heavier wintry mix is expected by Saturday afternoon and evening. The precipitation will move out on Sunday with a slight chance for a dusting of snow. Temperatures will be below freezing starting Friday night and will not get above freezing until at least Monday and maybe Tuesday for some places. Travel impacts could last into early next week due to the prolonged cold temperatures.
