Texas A&M’s 2027 recruiting class is on the cusp of finishing as the No. 1-ranked cycle, currently positioned as 247Sports’ No. 2-ranked class with ten commitments, led by four-star cornerback Raylaun Henry. Coming off the first junior day weekend of the year, head coach Mike Elko and his staff have continued to make progress with several five-star 2027 prospects, while landing a commitment from four-star OL Kaeden Scott.

In the age of the transfer portal, recruiting elite high school talent continues to be a priority for most programs, including Texas A&M, as Elko feels that adding instant impact players who can provide depth during their first season, while developing into starters, combined with adding veteran transfer talent, is the key to long-term success.

This weekend, Rivals/On3 insider Sam Spiegelman revealed the Aggies’ loaded visitors list, which includes four of the program’s top 2027 commits, while the No. 1-ranked prospect in Rivals’ 2027 rankings, five-star cornerback John Meredith, will also make his way back to College Station this weekend.

Despite losing ace recruiter and DB coach Jordan Peterson to Kansas State, Texas A&M assistants DJ Mann and Mason Smith have picked up where Peterson left off, aiding Mike Elko in the Aggies’ efforts to land Meredith’s commitment. Meredith’s rise in the recruiting rankings did not surprise Elko and his staff, who were among the first programs to recognize his raw talent and extend an offer.

“They were the first big school to really offer me and have always been a hundred with me,” Meredith stated. “They say I’ll be like Will Lee, but I’d be a better version of him. Coach Elko is bringing in guys like me and they’re proving to be better. They’re developing up and showing it on the field.”

Before the 2025 season, which ended at 11-2, led by the program’s first trip to the College Football Playoff, on-field success was seldom used as a recruiting tool, but it has now aided in proving to future stars that development is the No. 1 priority and will result in future success in the postseason.

In addition to Meredith, Texas A&M will host four-star offensive linemen Albert Simien and Ismael Camara, five-star Edge Zyron Forstall, four-star Edge Cameron Hall, and four-star DL DeMarco Jenkins. The No. 1-ranked 2027 tight end Ahmad Hudson will also make his first trip to College Station.
