Texas A&M (15-4, 5-1 SEC) has now won eight of its last nine games, while the Aggies’ only defeat in SEC play came on the road in double overtime against Tennessee, as Wednesday dominate 88-68 home win over Mississippi State further established first-year head coach Bucky McMillan as one of the rising stars in the coaching ranks.

Led by star forward Rashaun Agee’s season-high 23 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists, who has been the “glue guy” for team filled with transfer additions, is playing his best basketball at the perfect time, and combined with senior guard Rylan Griffen’s clutch shoooting over the last two games, totaling 32 points and seven 3-pointers against Texas and Mississippi State.

It’s undeniable now that the Aggies are one of the best teams in the SEC, and while the schedule only gets tougher heading into the February slate, Texas A&M likely needs at least ten or more wins in conference play to earn an at large bid in the NCAA Tournament, and with 12 games left in the regular season, this feat should be achieved.

After Wednesday’s victory, Texas A&M rose one more spot to No. 42 in the NET rankings, two spots in KenPom (36th) and 29th in the Torvik rankings, and if the Aggies continue to take care of business against Quad 3 opponents at home, including South Carolina on Saturday, expect McMillan’s veteran squad to make the postseason.
