EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — On Friday morning, crews with the Texas Department of Transportation opened the Thorn overpass on I-10 in West El Paso.

This comes after construction crews recently completed paving the connection to the frontage road, and the new overpass will carry two eastbound lanes, one westbound lane, and left turn lanes over the newly widened I-10.

Despite it being open, TxDOT wants drivers to be on alert as there are still lane and pedestrian walkway closures until next week.

The new Thorn Bridge overpass is set to serve as a connector in the northwest El Paso area between Redd and Mesa. Although the project was initially slated for completion last spring, several tasks remain unfinished.
